Ganesha is one of the most popular Hindu Gods. It is said that soon after Ganesha’s birth, Saturn came to salute the newborn and with one powerful glance, reduced the baby’s head to ashes. Vishnu, the God of Love, immediately placed the head of Indra’s elephant, Airavata on Ganesha's shoulders and from then on Ganesha came to be called Vighnesa, he who removes fear from the minds, or Lord over Obstacles whose purpose is to help his worshipers surmount every difficulty.
Ganesha resides on the mental plane, reigning over the muladhara (first) chakra. He organizes and clears the mind so that awareness may flow into it. Ganesh is also the Giver of Success. Among all the wonderful Hindu deities, Shri Ganesha is closest to the material plane of consciousness and most able to assist us in our day to day life concerns.
To contact Lord Ganesh, hold his form steady in your mind with eyes closed. Now you can talk to him. He will listen, but not speak back. Put all of your questions and problems at his feet and then open your eyes. Events will unfold and circumstances will change as doors open through your prayers to him.
